The resort of Kassiopi is a small village with one of the most picturesque fishing harbours. Dominated by the ruins of an old Angevine castle date from Roman times. it is set in a small bay. An ideal holiday spot for everyone, every age and taste. It offers a good variety of night life and entertainment Kassiopi is an attractive, colourful resort that has a split personality. Numerous restaurants of good quality, bars, coffee-shops on the beach and in the village. Lovely swimming beaches around the fortress kanoni, bataria, kalamionas and in Imerolia bay north of the fortress. Kassiopi is one of Corfu's most ancient sites. Remains of an ancient temple were excavated directly behind the harbour. Tradition has it that Nero stopped off on his way to Corinth and gave an impromptu song recital which, bearing in mind his reputation, the locals no doubt admired enthusiastically. Sadly, the fortress is greatly damaged with portions only of its walls remaining; it is surrounded by modern constructions.
